In this activity, students are going to use the Dichotomous Key. Here is the information about Dichotomous Keys (Word doc) with some activities before you start on classifying the hats.

Students

 

1. Individually, after watching the video, you are to look at the Word doc - Classification, Dichotomous Keys and work out the puzzles.

2 Using what you have learnt, classify the following hats using a Dichotomous Key:

Hat1 Hat 3
Hat 5 hat 4

Hat 2
Hat 6
Hat 7 Hat 8
Hat 9 Hat 10

3. Evaluate

In pairs, check / evaluate each other's keys and discuss any differences.

4. Discussion

Display in the classroom and discuss the differences in their keys!

1. Go to the Mad Cap instructions [Word doc]  (NB. instructions are in inches - you will need to convert to cms)

Students

1. You are to be inspired by the work of Edgar Degas and his 27 art works on the Milliner and the shop. You will be shown a collection of Degas' paintings.

2. Select ONE painting that you like and paint / draw your version from the resources above. 

3. You are to keep an art diary - writing up what you want to do each lesson (and afterwards), why, and the outcome.
