1. You are to go to the local Surf Life Saving Club on local beaches near you. [More than one if possible].

2. You are to interview the Lifeguards about their roles and activities:

  • the number of Lifeguards employed;
  • the number who are volunteers;
  • their shifts;
  • the time spent on each activity - first aid; watching and supervising the beach; training; physical fitness; using the boat or jet ski;
  • competitions attended.

3. Record the information using an iphone or ipad.

4. Investigate the Surf Boat Rowing Sport at your local club.

  • What are the surf patrol hour requirements?
  • what is the local surf clubs/Bronze Medallion Course?
  • Interview a surf boat rower and find out
    • their fitness level and how they maintain this level
    • the number of times they have had to use the boat to rescue people - what were the circumstances?
    • the times they have to achieve from call out to getting into the boat
    • any competitions they have participated in
    • types of events in these competitions
    • who were the winners of the events and what are their records

5. Record these interviews and make a video, using Stupeflix to show to your class at school.
